FAQ

Q: Is there a charge to join?

A: No. Membership is free. Just fill out the form and you’ll receive periodic emails from us alerting you to new articles on our blog or new opportunities, ideas and discussions designed to encourage grandparents and inspire them with creative ways to be engaged in the home education of their grandchildren.

Q: Do I have to be a grandparent to join?

A: No. Parents are encouraged to join, as they will find the resources just as useful as grandparents. In fact, our website has two special areas that are specific to issues from a grandparent’s perspective and a parent’s perspective. Beyond that, many homeschooling families have relatives or friends that have become loving mentors to the children; they, too, will be encouraged with fresh ideas from this website. They are welcome to join in order to receive updates on new content.

Q: There is a “Donate” button on your website. How are donations used?

A: Donations are used to reach and serve grandparents and to help with ministry expenses, from literature to travel to web presence to convention booths and more. If you are excited about Grandparents of Homeschoolers and the many resources and opportunities it can provide to you, we would be grateful for donations in any amount. Regardless of whether you are able to donate, we invite you to take advantage of all our resources, contribute ideas or stories and spread the word to other grandparents of homeschoolers.

Q: Are donations tax-deductible?

A: Currently they are not. Grandparents of Homeschoolers is a non-profit organization, but we have not applied for 501©3 tax status.

Q: I’ve got some great ideas for teaching my grandchildren.  How can I share those with other grandparents?

A: We are excited to hear from you! Please submit your ideas, stories, questions or prayer needs using the “Contact” form in the main menu. If you have content or ideas specific to the forthcoming book on grandparents of homeschoolers, please use the “Submit Book Input” button at the top of the web page. We would love input from (1) a grandparent’s perspective, (2) a parent’s perspective, (3) a grandchild’s perspective — all addressing the same subject matter — the grandparents’ involvement and impact in the lives of their grandchildren.

Q: I’d like to meet other grandparents of homeschoolers in my local area. Can you help with that?

A: Yes. Just click on the “Join” button and fill out the form, noting in the “Comments” box that you would like to meet other grandparents of homeschoolers who live near you and we will get you in touch with our “State Director” in your state or connect you with a local Grandparents of Homeschoolers “Ambassador” in or near your local community.

Q: I live outside the United States. Can I still join, and do you have connections in other countries?

A: Yes! We have global representatives who can connect you with grandparents of homeschoolers in a number of countries around the world. When you fill out the form, specify your country and any other international address details in the “Comments” section.

Q: Do you speak to groups?

A: Yes. We are available to speak to homeschooling groups and grandparent groups, from private meetings to major conferences. We even host Grandparent Teas – a fun, casual time for Grandpas and Grandmas to meet one another and hear a message tailored especially for them. Several of our workshop topics are listed on our “Available to Speak” page. We also offer customized workshops to meet groups’ specific needs. Please send us your input on  speaking topics you’d like to hear.
