History

This ministry — Grandparents of Homeschoolers — grew out of a “seed” planted in 2006 when we (the founders — see our bio page) attended a statewide homeschooling conference in Minnesota put on by the Minnesota Association of Christian Home Educators (MACHE). After years of helping to organize state conferences, we wanted to attend a different state conference to get fresh ideas. The MACHE Conference featured a “Grandparent Tea” that year, which we attended.

Upon witnessing the highly beneficial interaction between grandparents who were unsure of this “homeschooling” thing and grandparents who loved it, and saw how their hearts were captivated by the grandparent speakers who shared their same love for their grandchildren, we were sold.

We dashed back to our home state and got permission to organize a grandparent tea at the next conference. There were rave reviews from those in attendance, who expressed their great delight with the inspiring message and the opportunity to interact with other grandparents of homeschoolers.

Over the ensuing years, God continued to prick our hearts for this ministry, giving us a consuming passion for it, and opened the doors to launch it. For this, we give Him the glory and dedicate this ministry to Him … because it is His.
